MySQL Database Server Administration using MySQL WorkBench Review

Being an IT expert, I always take a full interest to learn about the administration and management of different IT applications, software, Web Servers, and database servers. In this tutorial, we shall learn how to use the MySQL Work Bench tool for MySQL Database Server administration. MySQL Work Bench is the very latest tool for MySQL Server administration, Database designing & development. Here in this tutorial, we shall discuss the below-mentioned topics

How to register a MySQL Server in MySQL Work Bench:

 Many MySQL Servers instances can be registered with Workbench software. The mySQL connections option is showing in the below snapshot where we can register a new server instance. Connections will be shown below the setting as showing a Locally installed MySQL server instance. When we click on the local instance MySQL 5.6, its administration console will be opened.

By Right click on the connection icon, different options will be shown as shown below like open connection, edit the connection, and copy connection setting to Clipboard. Delete the connection and delete all connections.

By clicking on Add connection Icon as shown below, setup new connection dialog will be opened, where we can set parameters for the Connection name, Hostname, Port, Username, Password, Default Schema, and other settings for SSL and advanced settings.

How to Start and Stop MySQL Server from Work Bench:

 After clicking on connection, below mentioned Administration Server Status console is opened, here you can see a detailed status of the server instance server running status which is currently showing stopped, CPU utilization, traffic estimation, connection parameters, etc. 

In the lift navigator sidebar, you can see different options for database Management, Instance, Performance, and Schema. 

To start the database server instance, click on the startup/shutdown option of the instance, on the right side, click on the start server button. The server will start.

Here you can see the server running status which is showing as running which was previously stopped. CPU utilization is 3% and the number of connections is 3.

MySQL Server User management in MySQL Work Bench Tool:

By using the MySQL WorkBench tool, we can manage users and their Privileges rules. Here below mentioned task can be done

1- Creation and deletion of data users

2- Modification of password

3- Modification of Authorization Rules

4- Modification of Database schema privilege

Here in the Authorization rules option, you can set rules of users as DBA (Data Base Administrator), Maintenance Admin, User Admin, DB Manager, DB Designer, and Backup Admin, etc with different privilege rights for database operations like ALTER, CREATE, DELETE, DROP, INSERT, etc...

How to Data Export from database Schema using MySQL Work Bench tool:

You can data export from your desired database schema. As shown below snapshot, for data export click on the data export option in the Management section. Here you can select the desired schema in the object selection section and set the Path where export data will be saved.

How to SQL Data Import in MySQL Server database using MySQL Work Bench Tool:

MySQL WorkBench provides better tooling for data import. You can import data like SQL dump or other data files into the database.

MySQL Database Server Performance Monitoring using MySQL Work Bench:

As shown below snapshot of the MySql Server performance dashboard, MySQL Work Bench is providing betting tooling for MySQL database server performance monitoring. Here you can monitor Network status, Table Opens Cashe, and InnoDB Status. Work Bench provides reporting tool for database performance reports which can be downloaded on your computer.

MySQL Data Base schema Management using MySQL Work Bench:

MySQL work Bench provides better tooling for Database schema management. Option for database schema management is shown below in the left sidebar where you can manage database tables, views, stored precedence and functions, etc.
